Tying
Instructions:
1) Place the glass bead on hook. Place hook in
vise and secure thread, ending just into bend.
Glass bead should be at the hook eye out of the way for now.
2) Tie in one strand
of pearl Krystal Flash,
extending two inches beyond bend.
3) Tie in silver
wire by lashing the tag end to the top or side
of the hook shank, then bring thread forward to tip of hook
point. Wind wire forward to thread and tie down,
clip the excess.
4) Form a small
ball of dubbing just in front of hook point,
over the wire tie-off area, behind the glass bead.
5) Bring thread to
in front of the glass bead and take a couple
turns of the thread. Push the glass bead
back gently, to snug up against the dubbing.
6) Tie in white CDC
feather just behind eye, in front of the glass
bead. Length of the fibers
should be equal to the length of the entire
hook. Take one full turn of hackle, tie off,
clip excess. (You can employ any number of
techniques to apply the CDC hackle, including
dubbing loops, or tie a bundle of fibers on in
their middle that surrounds the hook shank and
fold them back then bring the thread in front.)
7) Whip finish,
cement thread wraps.
